I realize that there are many reasons you would want to sell your home by yourself. Often times, it is in an attempt to save real estate commissions, other times it may be because you had a bad experience with a real estate agent in the past.
If you are just trying to save paying a commission, it may interest you that according to surveys done by the National Association of Realtors, the average FSBO (For Sale By Owner) home sold for much less than the average home sold by a Realtor® and that many of those instances, the seller would have netted more money at closing had they used the services of a real estate professional. Another survey that asked FSBO’s if they would ever sell another home without an agent - the majority said “NEVER”.
As a real estate broker, I earn every bit of my commission. through properly marketing and negotiating your sale, I can net you more money and on more favorable terms (often netting even more money) than you would do on your own. Think about it - you wouldn’t represent yourself in a lawsuit would you? You would hire an attorney to represent you - so why leave it to chance when selling your most valuable possession?
